2012 Hyundai Veloster Review

The 2012 Hyundai Veloster is an original looking hatchback aimed at capturing the younger drivers. Hyudnai made sure to add to the 2012 Hyundai Veloster that will appeal to the busy lifestyle that the younger crowd can appreciate. One of the unusual features is a trick third door that dove tails into the front-hinged rear door on the passenger’s side of the car. This is helpful when loading or unloading the car with any variety of work or sports equipment, groceries, or people headed for the third row seating.

Once inside the cabin you notice that the 2012 Hyundai Veloster has all the high tech benefits that any younger driver could possibly want. Hosted in Hyundai’s BlueLink telematics system is a seven-inch color LCD touch screen, conveniently positioned in the top of the center stack. The LCD screen can be used to monitor the Veloster’s performance. The navigation is second to none and even does better than the iPhone. Style or tech packages are available that offer an upgraded stereo system with satellite radio and Pandora.

Under the hood, the 2012 Hyundai Veloster hosts a direct injected 1.6-liter 4 cylinder, the same engine that Hyundai uses in the Accent and is available in a 6 speed manual or 6 speed dual clutch. It offers a humble 123 pound feet of torque and 138 horsepower, not a good car for racing around in, but the up to 40 highway miles per gallon, most drivers won’t mind getting from 0 to 60 in just under 9 seconds.

The 2012 Hyundai Veloster starts at an affordable $18,075 which is for the standard options. The tech package is an additional $2,000 and the dual-clutch box is another $1,250, which comes up to about $23,325 for a complete set of options. While this is in direct competition with more powerful and still efficient compacts such as the Chevy Cruze, the styling and third door set it apart.

Vehicle Profile: The 2012 Hyundai Veracruz

Premium crossover features with signature Hyundai value.

The 2012 Veracruz is the flagship Hyundai crossover, providing a premium experience for up to seven passengers with meticulous attention to detail and segment-leading luxury, convenience and safety equipment. For 2012, the Veracruz is updated with new exterior features, heated seats in the second row and an available Alpine navigation system on the Limited trim.

The Veracruz (MSRP $28,345) hits the road with an aggressive stance and well-balanced proportions. The exterior aesthetics feature bold, wraparound headlamps and a newly revised grille with a more imposing look. Muscular shoulders house 17- or 18-inch wheels, depending on trim and options selected.
Inside, Hyundai provides a spacious, versatile and elegant passenger compartment engineered for luxury-car-level quietness when in motion. Acoustic damping sheets on the doors and unibody, a steel plate beneath the engine and four layers of carpet padding help to reduce road noise, and engine noise is curbed thanks to an electronically controlled engine mount, a dash specifically designed to reduce noise, and custom hood insulation.

Hyundai’s standard Hideaway™ third-row seat, accessible with a lever that slides the second-row forward, provides seating for two additional passengers. Buyers can opt for dual-zone climate control for driver and the front-seat passenger, and second- and third-row passengers are catered to with adjustable vents in the B-pillars and rear climate-controls and vents mounted in the roof. Standard heated second-row seats warm passengers in Veracruz Limited trims. Read more article...
